Georgian Amethyst Ship Seal Fob circa 1800
This beautiful antique Georgian seal fob dates from the late 18th or early 19th century around 1800.
Seal fobs, sometimes singular sometimes in a cluster, were popular accessories that were used to both weigh down the end of pocket watch chains that were draped across a man's waistcoat and to seal wax for correspondence. Functional and stylish they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and the motifs can give you a great idea of the personality of the original owner, in this case, what was their connection to the sea?
This precious, tiny lovely example features a pale purple amethyst carved with a ship carving.
Perfect addition to an charm necklace or bracelet.
Material is not gold, possibly pinchbeck.
Beautiful worn as a pendant!
Chain is not included, listing is for fob only.
