About the material - Vulcanite was created in the 1830's by the Goodyear company by combining tree rubber and sulfur and became popular with jewelry manufacturers due to its ability to imitate Jet, the a stylish, rare material at the time. It resembles a hard plastic. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight or hot water as that can damage the piece. Just clean gently with a cloth. Perfect for a gothic or romantic style.
