Seal fobs, sometimes singular sometimes in a cluster, were popular accessories that were used to both weigh down the end of pocket watch chains that were draped across a man's waistcoat and to seal wax for correspondence. This beautiful example dates from the mid 19th century, during the Victorian era. The ornate 9k gold intaglio fob is set on a beautiful black ribbon accented with gold hardware, including a dog clip, buckle, and jump ring. The fob can be removed or worn with the ribbon.
Dimension: Fob measures .6 inches wide by .9 inches high. Ribbon measures 1 inch wide at the widest by 5.5 inches long.
Weight: Fob weighs 5.75 gram. Ribbon weighs 4.3 grams
Condition: In very good antique condition. Very minimal wear. Fob and all metal elements of ribbon test as gold. Fob is most likely "gold cased" meaning a layer of gold covering a most likely silver base. Ribbon may be from later date, late 19th or early 20th century.
