Victorian C. 1880 Scarab Beetle 18K Gold Brooch

This wonderful antique brooch is crawling with style. Set with one of the most unique materials in Victorian jewelry design - so called "Egyptian scarab beetles." These real beetles (actually native to South America) were preserved and varnished and set in various jewelry designs to capitalize on the Victorian mania for both Ancient Egypt and designs literally taken from nature.

This brooch features three beetles set in 18k gold, including the pin fitting.

Dimensions: Brooch measures 1.2 inches in length by .6 inches in width.

Condition: In good antique condition. Some minor discoloration to the brooch back and one small abrasion to central beetles wing visible under magnification. Additional photos and videos available upon request.
