Georgian Rose Gold Carnelian Spinner Seal Ring
The lovely little ring is a fascinating piece of early 19th century history! Crafted circa 1820 in the late Georgian period, it is a rare surviving example of a spinning seal ring. Set with a central rectangular carnelian. While this version was never engraved these rings could be personalized with initials, seals or mottos and used to press into wax for your own personal seal on documents and letters. It spins on a central access to reveal a front and back that could have been used for two different engravings. Beautiful and functional!
Set in a low karat (possibly 8k) rose gold it makes an attractive conversation piece today and is a remarkable survivor from the past. Please note condition report for ring.
