Georgian C. 1780 Black Dot Paste Silver Pendant
This gorgeous piece of authentic English Georgian jewelry dates from the late 18th century - circa 1780-90 and features one of the most sought after materials of the period, black dot paste. Paste stones, a form of leaded glass made to resemble gemstones, were all the rage at this period with even the English royal family ordering suites of jewelry in paste. This version, black dot paste, features small black dots at the bottom of the stone in order to mimic the natural effect of looking through a diamond. Foil backing on the stones makes it shimmer and shine especially in candlelight.
A stunning antique pendant that is still wearable today. Most likely converted from an earring or brooch it features numerous paste stones set in silver with a more modern silver bale. Channel 18th Century elegance or give an unforgettable gift for the history lover.
