Keeper rings, elaborate heavy gold rings with ornate decoration such as this one, came into popularity after the 18th century when wearing precious gem stone set rings became popular. These keeper rings are intended to be worn above the gem set ring and "keep" them in place. This tradition also evolved into the popular wedding sets retailed today- with matching engagement rings and wedding bands. This beautiful vintage ring, fully hallmarked for production in England in 1931- during the Art deco era but made in an earlier style - is made out of a wonderful 9k rose gold. Perfect today for serving its original purpose, of being worn next to a gem set ring or to be worn alone as a wedding band or everyday beautiful ring. Perfect for men, women or those preferring a unisex style!
