This is a fantastic example of a late Georgian pinchbeck bracelet. Often seen in paintings from this era but rarely surviving these pieces were often stacked together as multiple bracelets along the wrist showing off the short sleeved dresses of the era. Pinchbeck is a metal that was invented in the 18th century to imitate gold. During a time in world history when gold was scarce the demand for a metal that looked and acted like gold was great. Pinchbeck, an alloy of several different types of metal perfectly fit the bill, it was gold colored and didn't tarnish like brass or other substitutes. It was also easy to work with and could be crafted into incredible styles as can be seen with this beautiful "mesh" flexible bracelet. In this beautiful bracelet, circa 1820, various strands are woven together, with alternating patterns of solid and textured to create a wonderful fluid effect.

It also featured a solid clasp decorated with a floral design. It is in poor-fair condition with wear to the clasp and a later woven thread keeping the bracelet together. There are also pieces missing in a few areas. However it is fully wearable and an important rare piece of jewelry history.

Dimensions: 6 inches in length (for a small wrist!) by 1.8 inches wide
